Events & Adventures | Bob Cope

Events & Adventures is melting over The Candle Bar! If you haven’t heard about this awesome new spot off of Sidco Drive, let us tell you all about it.

We were invited to personalize our favorite fragrance combinations and then jazz it up with a customized container for a truly unique experience. There are 40 different fragrance options to choose from and blend together to create something all your own – it is so much fun!

The entire candle making process took 30-40 minutes, and we were guided step by step how to mix, pour and customize. The candles then need to cool for 3 hours or so before they are ready burn.

The best part? It’s BYOB! We made it a very social night out and brought in food, sodas, wines and spirits for a fun get to know you experience.

At Events & Adventures, we love trying new things. If there is a new spot that has something new and exciting to try, you can bet we will be there to test it out. Our single members never tire of trying new things, like axe throwing classes, creating our own aromatherapy essential oils, playing Topgolf, fencing and partaking in sake tastings and wine and chocolate demos. Let us show you why being single is such a great thing!

We wanted to add in some honorable mentions that our members love, so first up is Millers Thrillers Haunted Woods & Zombie Paintball. This place is a must see for Halloween!

Next up is Canoe The Caney – Haunted Canoe Trip. If you are in for some adventure, then this is something you need to do! Your trip starts with a trolley ride to the old cemetery where you’ll hear the true and disturbing accounts of a flooded town, lost graves, ghostly visits, unexplained voices, and sounds. You will then take a short walk to the old dock on Center Hill Lake where, along the way, you will hear other accounts of ghostly haunting’s as your walk through the old military recreation base. Once you arrive at the dock, you will board your boat and paddle over the original location of the old 1800’s sunken cemetery that is just a mere 15 feet below the water’s surface. This is where many believe the lost graves still remain and local lore tells stories of spirits trapped just beneath the dark waters of Cemetery Cove.

And finally, we highly recommend doing the corn maze by flashlight at Fiddle Dee Farms! Seven acres of twists and turns. Seven acres of surprises. Seven acres of “which way do I go” decisions. While not haunted per se, it is spooky because of the darkness, and really fun in a group setting!

Are we gonna do THAT?” That’s what our E&A members said once they came face to face with The Ocoee River Adventure for the first time. September was the perfect time to raft The Ocoee!

The Ocoee River is a whitewater gem located in southeast Tennessee loaded with Class III and IV whitewater. Our trip started with a little rapid called Grumpy’s that encouraged us to paddle together with our E&A boat mates. We then enjoyed the eye opening ledges of Broken Nose, the rolling waves of Slice and Dice and a fun little hole called Second Helping. After that, our guide let us in on a good Indian story around Moonshoot and the drops at Double Suck woke us up and prepared us for our photo opportunity at the infamous Double Trouble. These three standing waves had us shrieking with delight, for sure!

We traversed through countless drops of waves before we were home free.

Once our 5-mile adventure was over, which took about 3 hours, we changed into dry clothes and viewed our pictures to see how crazy we looked out there.

It was truly a unique experience that we will not forget!

Yes, folks. You heard that right – we did indeed try goat yoga recently!

We wrangled up our crew and headed out to Shenanigoats’ new studio in Madison, TN to partake in the latest craze to sweep through Nashville. We were greeted by some fabulous goats, including the popular Miles who has his own Instagram handle – @IAmMilesTheGoat!

Did you know that goats eat 75% of their body weight daily? They sure do! The goats at Shenanigoats tromped around and ate leaves and such that were left out for them. They let us pet them and some even snuggled right up to our members! It was cuteness overload, for sure.

Our instructor, Lori, was awesome. Yes, you actually do yoga. We moved through the different poses and she provided modifications for us newbies. The goats randomly decided to jump on us as we moved from planks to down dogs and the various warrior poses. It was quite comical and we all really enjoyed the experience.

We ended class in a group circle where the goats ran across our backs continuously. They will do anything for some food!

At Events & Adventures (E&A), we do everything from going out to dinner, going to concerts, hiking, bowling, yoga, musicals and theater events, rooftop pool parties and disc golf – you name it, we do it!

On Sunday, we headed over to Two Rivers Parkway for disc golf with our E&A friends! It was a beautiful day for disc golf, also known as frisbee golf or frolf. So, what is disc golf? Disc golf involves players throwing a disc at a target, and is played using rules similar to golf. We play on a course of 9 or 18 holes, but other formats are also common. Players complete a hole by throwing a disc from a tee area toward a target, throwing again from the landing position of the disc until the target is reached. Your goal is to complete a course in the lowest number of total throws!

All in all, think of disc golf as golf, but instead of a ball and clubs, you use a flying disc – aka a Frisbee!

Disc golf can be played solo, with a partner, or with a large group. It’s a chance to do something in the great outdoors while getting exercise, connecting with friends or making new ones!

Disc golf is completely free, too!

E&A had an awesome adventure this past weekend! We all carpooled over to Shepherdsville, Kentucky (about 2.5 hours from Nashville) to cool off in Kentucky’s natural lazy river, appropriately named Awesome Lazy River, because it is exactly that – awesome.

Once we arrived at their parking lot, we chose the rafts we wanted and took our time loading up and entering the lazy river. They offer single tubes for $15, double tubes for $30 and cooler floats for $5. Their customer service is top-notch, so if you have any questions, just ask!

The float takes about two hours, and we allowed ourselves to float at a leisurely pace. Keep in mind, nature dictates the current and conditions of the river, but two hours is an accurate time frame to expect. Once we got to the end of the route, we boarded a bus that took us back to the parking lot where our cars were.

We stopped along the float route to rope swing! It was pretty cool! We also swam around a bit.

The Awesome Lazy River can accommodate large groups – we had about 35 people with us! They are open Saturdays and Sundays now through Labor Day weekend, from 10am to 5pm. The Awesome Lazy River is located at 165 Dawson Dr. Shepherdsville, Kentucky and is ready and waiting for you to come visit! Take our word for it – it is an awesome time!!!

E&A Goes to Brand New Madame Tussauds Nashville!

Things got waxy this week as we headed over to the recently opened Madame Tussauds Nashville! If you don’t know, Madame Tussauds Nashville is a wax museum of celebrities at Opry Mills.

We rubbed shoulders with all the stars, including Taylor Swift, Luke Bryan (who we recently saw in concert at Bridgestone Arena!), Keith Urban and many more!

There are many things to see here, including a recording studio that makes you step back in time to the mid-1950’s where you can practically feel the music being made. There is even an Opry stage, where you can relive an era where Opry legends were born.

After we strolled through the wax museum (took us about an hour), we tried out the new Bavarian Bierhaus. Their food is quite tasty and their “bier” list is extensive. Our group had a blast here!

Are you single in Nashville and ready to start having fun? You can join us on our next adventure! We have events every single day of the week, sometimes even multiple things going on. Check out our calendar featuring 30-40 events per month here.

Ever tried speed dating? Basically, you show up to a room full of strangers and have a few minutes or so to meet and chat with a person and then move on to the next. Afterwards, you find out if anyone you met matched up with you and then you have the option to continue getting to know them.

At E&A, we have taken the Speed Dating concept to a new level, without any of the pressure! On Monday night, we had our Spring Fling! Speed Mingle – think speed dating, but in a group setting. We create the questions and the goal is to answer as many as you can with your group in less than 10 minutes. At the end of each round, you move to a different table to meet new people. This is the best way to get to know 60 or so singles in a short amount of time!

We also do giveaways in between each round, so you can win some awesome prizes!

After speed mingle, we encourage everyone to stay and continue to engage with other members. Speed Mingle allows you to make new friends, share some laughs and maybe even meet someone special!

We always welcome new members, so if you’re interested in joining our private club and coming to a speed mingle event, call us at 615-242-3030 or submit your information here.
